Up to $1,125 back from New Mexico Gas Company

M&R is an approved participating contractor for the New Mexico Gas Company energy-efficiency rebates — one of only four inside Farmington. That means the rebate can come straight off your invoice instead of arriving as a check weeks later.

Why it matters who does the work

These rebates only exist on an approved contractor's invoice

New Mexico Gas Company will not pay these rebates on work done by a company that is not on its participating list. The equipment can be identical and the install can be perfect — if the contractor is not approved, the money is not available. There are four approved contractors inside Farmington, and M&R is one of them.

We file it, not you

The application, the invoice, the equipment photographs and the AHRI certificate are ours to submit. We need your gas account number and a signature.

It comes off the bill

Because we submit through the contractor portal, the rebate can be applied to your invoice as a credit — so you never front the money and wait.

We tell you before you spend

The efficiency thresholds are the program’s and we cannot move them. If the unit you want does not qualify, you will hear that from us first.

The conditions

What has to be true to qualify

These are the terms people get caught by, so they are here rather than buried in a link.

  • You have to be a New Mexico Gas Company residential customer, with an active account number.
  • The equipment has to be new. Used and refurbished units do not qualify.
  • The work has to be done by a participating contractor — a smart thermostat is the only exception.
  • It cannot be part of new construction or an addition. These are rebates for replacing what is already there.
  • The install has to be finished inside the program year, and the application filed within 30 days of finishing.
  • Rebates are paid while program funding lasts.
  • If you rent, your landlord has to sign a Landlord Authorization form before the work starts.

For the 2026–2027 program year the work has to be completed between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027, with the application in within 30 days of completion or by 30 April 2027, whichever comes first. The program is run for New Mexico Gas Company by Franklin Energy, and you can read the application forms and terms yourself.

Questions

What people ask us about the rebates

Do I pay full price and wait for a check?

You do not have to. Because M&R is a participating contractor we can file through the contractor portal and take the rebate straight off your invoice as a credit, so the discount lands on the bill instead of arriving weeks later. You and M&R both sign the invoice when it is handled that way. If you would rather have the money sent to you directly, we file it that way instead and New Mexico Gas Company pays you in six to eight weeks.

Can any HVAC company do this?

No. New Mexico Gas Company only pays these rebates on work done by a contractor on its participating list, and there are four of them inside Farmington. M&R is one. If a company is not on the list, the rebate is not available on their work no matter what equipment they install.

My furnace is fine. Is there anything for me?

Yes — the $100 furnace tune-up. It is the same maintenance we would recommend before winter anyway, and the rebate covers a good part of it. There is a checklist we have to complete and submit for it to count, which is part of why it has to be a participating contractor.

What if my equipment does not hit the efficiency numbers?

Then that rebate does not apply, and we will tell you so before you spend anything. The AFUE and UEF bars in the table are the program’s, not ours, and we cannot move them. We would rather quote you honestly on a unit that does not qualify than put you through an application that gets declined.

Does this apply in Colorado?

No. This is a New Mexico Gas Company program and it covers its New Mexico service area only. Durango and La Plata County are served by different utilities with their own separate rebates, so if you are on the Colorado side, call us and we will tell you what is actually available to you rather than guess.

How much paperwork is mine?

Almost none. We submit the application, the invoice and the photographs the program asks for. What we need from you is your New Mexico Gas Company account number, a signature, and a landlord signature if you rent.
